Short-toed Eagle - Circaetus gallicus (Hungary)
Simay Gábor 2010-09-08 04:40:28 Short-toed Eagle breeds in small number in the hilly areas of the county, but from mid-summer till september they can be found - still in small number - around the well grazed grasslands. Little Stint - Calidris minuta (Hungary)
Simay Gábor 2010-09-08 04:32:00 A rather common migrant, especially during autumn migration when small flocks of mainly juvenile birds can be seen in the mud of the drained fishponds or - in a wet year like 2010 -, in the flooded grasslands. Red Knot - Calidris canutus (Hungary)
Simay Gábor 2010-08-30 06:10:01 Red Knots are scarce migrants to Hungary, mainly during the autumn migation, so it is a real rare opportunity to photographe them. White-winged Black Tern - Chlidonias leucopterus (Hungary)
Simay Gábor 2010-08-12 10:45:39 Just like the previous species, this one experienced an outstanding breeding season. Juvenile plumaged birds appeared around swallow wetlands near Tetétlen in August, though they bred not here but not far from here in the Hortobágy area. Whiskered Tern - Chlidonias hybridus (Hungary)
Simay Gábor 2010-08-12 10:41:51 The year 2010 has been extremely wet so far, which provided more than usual breeding habitats for the marsh terns. As we are well after the breeding now,, around the smaller and bigger wetlands juvenile Whiskered Terns can be found in really good numbers.
